With the earlier than expected budget this year, taking place on Monday 29 October, in our latest Technical bulletin we take a look at how pensions may be impacted and the possible changes that may apply.
With promised funding to the NHS, and extra demands from education and defence, reforms to pension tax relief could be on the agenda. Whilst the Chancellor may not go so far as introducing a flat rate of tax relief, a further cut to the annual allowance is possible.
With so many demands for public money, can we really expect to see the pension landscape unchanged for another year, as it was in the 2017 budget? We'll know the answers shortly....
Our bulletin also covers the importance of ensuring client's keep their death benefit nominations/expression of wishes up to date, along with an update on in specie contributions, which are currently suspended by most SIPP providers.
