Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It takes many forms, all of which result in the deprivation of an individual’s liberty by another, with the aim of exploitation for personal or commercial gain.

At Dentons Pensions, we are committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. We uphold a zero-tolerance approach to these unethical practices and strive to act with integrity and transparency in all our dealings.

This statement applies to all Dentons’ people, whether permanent employees, temporary employees, contractors, consultants or vendors working directly for Dentons Pensions or within our third-party suppliers and it covers all operational activities undertaken by Dentons Pensions. This policy does not form part of any employee’s contract of employment and Dentons reserves the right to amend it at any time.

Our policies and culture

We have implemented several policies to mitigate the risk of modern slavery within our organisation and supply chains:

  • Health and Safety Policy: Ensures a safe working environment for all employees and visitors.
  • Whistleblowing Policy: Encourages employees to report any concerns about unethical practices without fear of retaliation.
  • Recruitment Policy: Conducts rigorous checks to confirm all employees have the right to work in the UK and are employed voluntarily.
  • Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Policy: Implements measures to detect and prevent financial crimes.
  • Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy: Prohibits any form of bribery or corruption in our business activities.
  • Data Protection Policy: Ensures compliance with GDPR and the protection of personal data.
  • Procurement Policy: Mandates that suppliers adhere to ethical standards and practices.
  • Conflicts of Interest Policy: Requires disclosure and management of any potential conflicts to maintain integrity.

Due diligence and Risk assessment

To identify and mitigate modern slavery risks, we will carry out:

  • Supplier assessments: Evaluate new and existing suppliers to ensure they uphold our ethical standards.
  • Policy reviews: Regularly assess the effectiveness of our policies and their implementation.
  • Employee engagement: Foster open communication with employees to maintain a safe and inclusive workplace.

While we operate in a sector with a lower risk of modern slavery than others, we remain vigilant and committed to continuous improvement in this area.

Training and awareness

We provide training to our employees to help them recognise and address modern slavery risks. New staff receive induction training on our policies, and ongoing awareness programmes are conducted to reinforce our commitment to ethical practices.

Our commitment

Dentons Pensions will not tolerate modern slavery or human trafficking in any form. We are dedicated to acting responsibly and ethically, ensuring our business is free from modern slavery practices.
